Day 6 - In Good Taste

“In Good Taste” is owned by my friend (and soccer coach) Ann Worth. Ann has so much enthusiasm; I always feel energized and in good spirits when I see her. I was so happy that she opened “In Good Taste” earlier this year, as she is celebrating PEI made products and supporting buying local. Her shop showcases over 80 PEI producers with a variety of items from food to pottery inspired by land and sea.

“Many small companies don’t have big marketing budgets to promote themselves, so we like the idea of having everybody under one roof so we can really tell their stories, talk about their talents, and encourage customers to visit their locations.” - as quoted by Tasha Walsh, General Manager in an Employment Journey article published December 5th.

My Downtown Wish List includes:

Gift baskets filled with Island products - a basket for everyone!

"A Little Gift" natural Prince Edward Island Maple Syrup

Day 5 - Bizou

Bizou (located in the Confederation Court Mall, 1st floor) specializes in ladies retail fashion jewelry and accessories. When I visited, I asked the employee about the name Bizou. She said it was a playful word combination between the French word for jewelry “bijoux” and the French word for kiss “bisou”.

The owners, Lucie Dulac and Marcel Labrecque, of Sainte-Marie de Beauce, Quebec established the company in 1982 and opened their first boutique in the Quebec area. Since then, Bizou has branched out to six Canadian provinces as well as internationally.

Day 4 - The Kitchen Store

Today I visited the Kitchen Store at its brand new location. They moved from the 2nd Floor of the Confederation Court Mall to the 1st floor about three weeks ago. Their new location is bright and vibrant with much more space to showcase their functional kitchen products.

The Kitchen Store features a wide selection of stylish, functional top quality kitchen wear, from Henckels, Cuisinart, Keurig, Emile Henry, Good Grips and many more. Both the at-home gourmet and the professional will appreciate the fine selection of goods such as gadgets, utensils, small appliances, cookware, and tabletop.

My Downtown Wish List Includes:

One can never have too many tea pots! :)

Love this brightly coloured apron

 Royal Doulton dinnerware - beautiful!

Great gift idea - especially the 500 cupcakes recipe book

Day 3 - Dynamic Fitness

Tonight I visited the Yoga Boutique at Dynamic Fitness. I love everything about their products - when I used to live on Queen Street I passed by their colourful window displays about 6-8 times a day. It was tempting to not spend my entire pay cheque on their striking yoga clothes and accessories.

My visit this evening made me realize I didn’t quite know how Dynamic Fitness came to be, so I of course did a Google search. In 2000, Dave "Eli" MacEachern, Olympic Gold Medalist & Olympic Hall of Famer, set out to revolutionize athlete training & power conditioning in Atlantic Canada. He started training Brad Richards as his first Eli Sport client - now a 2 time Stanley Cup winner. He formed Dynamic Fitness Inc. and began training more elite athletes. You can read their full story here.

Dynamic Fitness prides themselves as “PEI’s premier lifestyle-focused boutique and fitness Studio”. They offer a wide range of fitness services including Hot and Cool Classes as well as Small Group Training.

It was tough to narrow down my selection, #MyDowntownWishList includes:

These beautiful bracelets - handmade by Rachel Sauve in Victoria By the Sea.

Light weight yoga bag - this bag would fit my entire life!

These are my favourite – Run Inspire Crop II yoga pants

Manduka and Yogitoes towels

Dynamic Fitness is currently located at 133 Queen Street but will be relocating to 99 Pownal Street at the end of this month. You can also find them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and via their website.

Don't miss out, when you are out and about shopping in Downtown Charlottetown share your #MyDowntownWishList via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, for a chance to win a $100 pre-paid MasterCard :) Happy Shopping!

Day 2 - Kuriosities

I absolutely loved my visit to “Kuriosities: Whimsical Trinkets & Oddities”. I had walked by this beautiful storefront a few times this summer but this was my very first time inside. As I walked through the door I was greeted by the warm and friendly personalities of Kimberly (owner) and Lily.

They showed me the unique pieces of wearable art that they hammer, saw, and solder in their “open view” jewelry studio. Kuriosities features handcrafted jewelry in a variety of precious metals and found materials and they also showcase products from Maritime artists.

A very interesting point for the "Jack White of the White Stripes" fans - Jack wears Kuriosities jewelry!

 My Downtown Wish List includes:

cozy handcrafted Island made cowls (made by Kimberly's daughter)

sea glass aquamarine and rose gold necklace

Nadine Staaf's lovely colouring books

custom handcrafted love knot (infinity) ring in sterling silver

hand sawn and polished Prince Edward Island necklace

These Island necklaces are perfect gift to show your Island love. They are so popular that they didn’t have any in stock while I was in today, however they are taking orders. Drop in to the shop at 93 Water Street for more details and see these gorgeous necklaces for yourselves. You can also visit their website, Twitter, Facebook, and Etsy page. You won't be disappointed!

Another winner will be randomly chosen today for #MyDowntownWishList - I hope you are the lucky one. Remember, the more photos you share from your downtown shopping experience, the more chances you have to win :)
